This is an exciting time as you begin your career in the profession of nursing! This first year of nursing practice may be one of the most challenging transitions of your career. We at Ascension St. John recognize that and are committed to assisting you in navigating new experiences and challenges and building your professional and personal accomplishments through our many unique new grad programs.

Nurse Residency Program
Our nurse residency program is a 12-month program (4-hours each month) designed to facilitate the transition from the student to the practicing professional nurse within an inter-professional and collaborative practice environment.

New Grad Pool
We offer a 16-week program providing career exploration in varied specialties to help you determine exactly where your nursing career thrives.

Innovative Professional Development Unit (IPDU)
A 1-year learning unit on a progressive cardiopulmonary renal unit with mentoring from preceptors dedicated to your success.

Specialty Pathway Program

This program efficiently builds competence and confidence for the recent grad as they begin their practice as a member of the Ascension St. John Family. Nurses learn through blended specialty classes, hands-on skills simulation and focused preceptor support. 

Job Coaches
Succession planning helps you to move forward your career within Ascension St. John. For new grads this person can help you move ahead, and how to build yourself to achieve your goals with opportunities like shadowing in different departments.
